Five Random Cubs Cards
I've got 17,885 Cubs cards from 218 different brands listed on a spreadsheet. A random number generator picked five cards, one each from the past several decades.
1900s - 1970s: 1978 Hostess #131 Rick Reuschel Big Daddy was coming off of a 20 win season, and that was good enough to get him in the 1978 Hostess set.
1980s: 1982 Topps Traded #10 Larry Bowa A card from the traded set featuring the other guy the Cubs got in the Ryne Sandberg trade.
1990s: 1993 Stadium Club #9 Shawon Dunston Always a good idea to duck when Shawon Dunston is making a throw!
2000s: 2005 SI for Kids #514 Derrek Lee Lee had a career year in 2005 and the people at SI took notice. Their set features athletes from a wide range of sports and that limits the number of baseball players, which in turn limits the number of Cubs.
2010s: 2013 Team Issued Season Ticket Holders #16 Billy Williams This card was printed on the tickets to the game on May 4th. They chose Billy for that game on the 4th, since he wore #4 early in his career, in 1959.
1900s - 1970s: 1978 Hostess #131 Rick Reuschel Big Daddy was coming off of a 20 win season, and that was good enough to get him in the 1978 Hostess set.
