1989 Starting Lineup Cubs

Kenner must have felt good about their first set because they increased the size in year two.  The 1989 set has 168 players, up 46 players from 1988.

The Cubs gained one extra card, going from six to seven.  Most of the stars of the '89 team were included.  The notable missing players were rookies Jerome Walton and Dwight Smith. You can't fault Kenner for not including them.

The Cubs set also included three Hall of Famers.  The Maddux card is the one that will set you back the most.  His card was one of the last I bought... I had to be slow and careful to get one at a reasonable price.

The green and black on the cards next to the blue and red Cubs...yuk.
