Five Random Cubs Cards

I've got 15,091 Cubs cards from 122 different brands listed on a spreadsheet. A random number generator picked five cards, one each from the past several decades.

1900s - 1970s: 1950 Bowman #231 Preston Ward  The 1950 season was Wards first full season with the Cubs, having been purchased from the Dodgers over the previous winter.  He played in 80 games and hit .253.

1980s: 1989 Topps #593 Drew Hall  I'm pleased the #44 is in much more capable hands today (Anthony Rizzo) than it was in the late Eighties.  Hall never played for the '89 Cubs as he was part of the trade with the Rangers that saw Rafael Palmeiro go to Texas with Mitch Williams coming to the Cubs.

1990s: 1995 Donruss #429 Randy Myers For the second time in three years, the Cubs closer led the NL in saves, with 38 in 1995.  Myers had 112 saves over those three years, but the Cubs didn't try to resign him afte the '95 season.

2000s: 2002 Heritage #248 Kerry Wood Using the 1953 design, Heritage gives us a nice, tight shot of Kerry Wood.

2010s: 2016 Factory Box World Series Cubs #WS17 Jon Lester  I sure hope I'll have to buy a box of this in 2017!
