Heritage 2024 Cubs

My Heritage 2024 shipment from Brentandbecca has arrived.  It took a while to arrive because Brent is a good guy.  The collation of his cases was terrible.  He tweeted about his problems and several other multi-case breakers had the same issue.  It looks like Fanatics messed up.

But like I said, Brent is a good guy.  He was short cards for many of his orders (mine included) but he didn't cancel the orders.  Instead, he went out and bought the cards he needed, spending over $2,000.  That is $2,000 out of his pocket.  He could ship his orders once he got the extra cards.

You can expect Heritage posts over the next several days.  Today I have the base set.

I won't bother doing a side-by-side of the 1975 originals and the 2024 Heritage cards.  By now we just assume that there will be differences.

The design aside, the biggest difference for me is the photos on the Heritage cards.  In 1975 there were cards for 26 Cubs players.  Only four of the 26 had an action card.  All the others were posed shots.  There are 16 Cubs players in 2024 Heritage and they are all action shots.

Yet I'm conflicted with the lack of posed pictures because in the past the Heritage posed shots have an identical backdrop photoshopped in and that always looked ugly.   In a perfect world Topps would send a photographer to the ballpark and take the posed shots there.  It seems like cost keeps that from happening.

Below are the 16 Cubs cards.  Notable absences include Cody Bellinger and Kyle Hendricks.  I'm assuming they will show up in the high number set.

  1. I think this could be the best Heritage not withstanding the action photos. Most of the color combo's look right except for Amaya and Taillon

  2. I'm a little shocked at the player selection. Joes Cuas and Michael Rucker, I'm looking at you. Middle relief, non rookies, usually don't get much attention in the card collecting world.
