196(9) At A Time - Page 48

Here are the All Stars from the 4th Series, ten players, five American Leaguers and five National Leaguers. They are the infielders and two outfielders. The NL cards have a green border while the AL cards have a red border. The head shot is set on top of a black and white action shot, though not a shot of the player featured on the card.

The back of the cards featured a ten piece black and white puzzle of one of the All Stars. You'll have to wait until you get to the bottom to see who it is.

I'll include the players in the hatless count, but not in the hall of fame tally, since they will be included with their regular card. How is it that Topps doesn't have a picture of some of these stars in a hat?

Among the ten there are two Cubs. The Cubs made up the left side of the infield with 3rd baseman Ron Santo and shortstop Don Kessinger. They would both repeat in 1969 and be elected to the All Star game again.

Here are the cards, #416 - #425

And now a look at the puzzle, of Yaz.

Overall Set Totals (player cards only)
Hall of Famers - 27
Hatless - 101
Airbrush - 88
Cubs (includes past, present, or future) - 59

  2. I love these cards. As a kid I must not have collected whatever series they're in because I only have the Cubs.
