2004 Finest Cubs

I'm a little more than half way through the run of Finest.

Up today is the 2004 version of Topps Finest.  The 2004 set saw a slight increase in cards, from 110 to 122.  The new wrinkle with this set is that relic cards were in the base set. Ten stars(#101 - 110), including Mark Prior and Sammy Sosa, had a relic.  The rookie autograph cards remained (#111 - 122), but none of them were Cubs.

Three Cubs were included in the base, regular cards...

...With Prior and Sosa in the relics subset, these three were among the biggest names left.

CONFESSION TIME...until I started writing this post, I knew nothing of the relic cards in the base set.  I used Teamsets4u as my checklist and it listed only cards #1-100.  The Standard Catalog goes from #1-122 and included the relics and rookie autograph cards.

I am now on the prowl for the Prior and Sosa relics.  The Sosa is fairly easy to find.  Not the Prior, which is not in any of my usual sources.  I'll have to wait patiently for it to show up somewhere.
