As promised, today I've got all of the Topps Cubs from the 1960s in one picture. This one is a lot longer than the '50 picture, as we've gone from 183 cards to 290 cards. Only one player is in every single year, and you shouldn't have much trouble figuring out who that was....Mr. Cub Ernie Banks. In fact, Ernie is one of only two Cub in the Topps era to span an entire decade (got a guess who the other one is??).
Want more? The '70s are up tomorrow.
This is really cool!
ReplyDeleteNice, the 50s was nice also. Oh I'm guessing the other Cub to span a decade would be Ron Santo
ReplyDeleteIt can't be Santo because his first card was 1961. I'll guess Mark Grace.
ReplyDeletei'd guess Grace in the 90's
ReplyDeleteMark Grace is the correct answer!
ReplyDeleteThat's a work of art right there.
ReplyDeleteHeh heh, check out "head coach" Bob Kennedy. On his 1964 card, he's assuming the standard mid-1960's manager pose of shouting out encouragement, with his hand beside his mouth. Then, in 1965 he's got his hat off and is wiping his brow, as if to say, "Damn, nothing I do is working here!"
