A Couple More Things With Heritage

Please indulge me with two more Heritage complaints.  I'm done (mostly) after this.

The 1974 set included cards for the managers and coaches.  That was just something Topps always did, include a card for the manager.  Adding the coaches was new in 1973.  I get that there are now 30 teams instead of 24, so Heritage has to make room for all of those extra players.  Dumping the manager card is a way to do that.

But wouldn't a card like this...

...have been a nice thing to include.

Topps did see fit to include the All-Star subset.  But they messed it up, too.

It's the colors again.  Are the design folks at Topps color blind?  The originals have the American League players on the left, in pink while the NL stars are in blue on the right.  Heritage flipped the sides for the AL and NL and swapped the league colors, too.

Why???

I've given up trying to answer that question.

  1. Also bring back team photo cards with Checklists of the players of the team sorta like they did telling us uniform #s as well of the player or Summary of the team feats that hold some historical information on the team on the backs or mention who's in the team photo circa 1958 or for a then & now feature the teams logo from when they started to the present day.

  2. I think the lack of manager cards is more due to not having the rights to their images than wanting to get more players in the set. For these they'd have to pay the coaches as well as the managers, and I guess I can kind of understand why they wouldn't do it. I'd sure like to have a card of Buck Showalter with Eric Chávez, Joey Cora, Jeremy Hefner, and Wayne Kirby underneath though!

To Poison75's point, it looks like they don't do team cards at all in Heritage anymore, which I find preferable to the "a few guys celebrating a win" cards they were doing a few years ago in Heritage and still do in flagship. But a true team photo would be nice for Heritage. If they can't do that I wouldn't mind a team leader card--hopefully they'll do those when we get to the '80s sets which had them.
