Taking a Look At Every Topps Card

A few days ago, JayBee had this post about the library that Topps has posted, with a page for each one of its cards, from 1952 - 2009.

The basic url is http://www.toppscards.com/BaseballCard.aspx?CardID=xx, with a particular number for each card replacing the xx.

The cards are listed in order, starting with card 1 from the 1952 set (which in CardID=2)

and working to card 660 from 2009 (CardID=38311).

Well, I did some playing around and came up with the starting point for each year. If you know the starting point for the year, and then add to that the number of a card from that season, you can find most cards. Its not exact, because Topps left some blank numbers for variation cards. But you should get close.

Click on each season and you will get card #1. Have fun looking around. Change to number in the url by one and you get the next card, and so on.

I second what Jay Bee said; I hope Topps leaves this up after the Million Card Give-Away is done. As much as I like the Baseball Card Cyber Museum, it is not complete. The Topps site has all the cards and could be a fantastic reference site for all of us baseball card bloggers.

  1. The "related cards" part at the bottom is really cool. Most (if not all) of a player's Topps cards are shown there. It's not perfect -- for example for Bob Gibson it shows all of his cards but also shows the cards of the Bob Gibson that pitched for the Brewers in the 1980s. But it's still a nice feature.

  2. This is great work and a huge help! Nice job. I also hope they keep this up after the promotion is over--what a resource!
