Touted Cubs prospect Pete Crow-Armstrong was called up on Tuesday and later played in the game that night as a pinch-runner. PCA came to the Cubs from the Mets in the Javier Baez trade. The Mets drafted him #1 in the first round of the 2020 draft. He was injured early in the 2021 season, and was not playing when he was traded. It was a risky trade, but it seems like the Cubs gamble paid off.
He's moved quickly through the Cubs' system, with the two A teams last season and this year in AA and AAA. He's with the big team now as a late inning runner and defensive replacement. It don't think the Cubs are expecting anything from him offensively, yet. But who knows?
He's been a defensive human highlight reel in the minors. I hope he sticks on the roster next year.
