Five Random Cubs Cards

I've got 21,195 Cubs cards from 316 different brands listed on a spreadsheet. A random number generator picked five cards, one each from the past several decades.

1900s - 1970s: 1979 Diamond Greats #109 Dom Dallessandro  Dellessandro played in over 600 games for the Cubs over seven seasons and I never heard of him until I got this card.  He has a career average of .267 and hit just 22 home runs, so it is a bit of a stretch to include him in a set called Diamond Greats.

1980s: 1988 Star Mark Grace #1  Star was in early on Mark Grace, since 1988 was his first full big-league season.

1990s: 1997 Select #131 Kevin Orie  There was a lot of hype surrounding Kevin Orie at the start of the 1997 season.  He ended up hitting .275 with eight homers. It was the best season of his career.

2000s: 2004 Topps Total #467 Michael Barrett He looks so nice and pleasant in this picture. Hard to believe he's the same guy that slugged AJ Pierzynski.  Then again, I bet Pierzynski has made lots of nice people want to smack him.

2010s: 2016 Topps Chrome #55 John Lackey  This is not a very flattering picture of Lackey.

  1. If it makes you feel any better I had not heard of Dallessandro until your post.
