There wasn't any big news yesterday to delay this post again!
On Sunday the winners of the 2023 Gold Gloves were announced and three Cubs were National League winners. It is the first time since the award began in 1957 that there were three Cubs winners.
Ian Happ won the award for left-fielders for the second season in a row. He is also the only Cubs left-fielder to win the award.
Dansby Swanson was also a repeat winner, take the Gold Glove at shortstop for the second consecutive season. Last year's win was as a member of the Braves.
The last time a Cubs shortstop took home the award was when Don Kessinger won in 1970.
The third Cubs winner was second baseman Nico Horner. This was his first win. It is also the first time in team history that the middle infielders won in the same season.
The last Cub second baseman to win was Darwin Barney in 2012.
Improve the defense was a top priority of the team in 2023 and it looks like they succeeded!
