Wrapping Up to 2023 Topps Cubs Inserts

 I've got the inserts recap today.

There are 33 Cubs inserts in the 2023 set (and I just count the regular cards, not any of the patches, medallions, relics, or autos).  That's an increase from the 24 last year, but still a far cry from the2016-2019 totals of 81, 87, 101, and 63.

The 2023 Cubs inserts....

• Cubs were included in 11 of the 23 sets (they are missing in 2022's Greatest Hits, Action Stars, AKA, Black Gold, Home Field Advantage, Home Run Challenge, Laid Out, Luke the Cardist, One-Two Punch, Significant Statistics, Silver Slugger Award, and Time-Spanning Tandems)
• 17 different players were shown
• 10 of the 17 players are with the Cubs right now (Assad, Bellinger, Kilian, Mervis, Morel, Steele, Stroman, Suzuki, Swanson, Wisneski )
• 1 of of the 17 is on s different team Velazquez)
• 6 of the 17 are retired (Banks, Dawson, Maddux, Jenkins, Sandberg, Sosa)
• The most popular players were Ryne Sandberg and Dansby Swanson, each with five cards.
• Only one of the inserts is horizontal.  The other 32 are vertical
