....of my boy, Barney (#15 for the 15th home game).
In addition to the card set, the Cubs are also featuring the card of the day on their printed tickets. Michael was kind enough to not only send me the cards, but also...
This is the second season in a row that the Cubs and Topps have teamed up on the tickets. Last year there were pictures of actual cards on the tickets.
This is the ticket that featured Barney last year, with his Topps 2011 card.
I continue to be amazed by the teamwork between Topps and the Cubs. I'm also surprised that other teams aren't copying this. Seems like its a win-win for both Topps and the teams. We'll see if other teams have sets of cards and/or tickets next year.
I couldn't tell if these match what Topps is doing in Archives in 2012 and 2013...any thought on that?
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing photos of uncut sheets of these sometime this winter.
The Tigers are doing a card giveaway I think over Memorial Day weekend, though the cards are only given to kids I believe.
The style seems to match last year's Archives set...and the Dunston card used the same picture from his '12 Archives card.
DeleteThe Tigers giveaway is Sunday, May 26 and you're right, they're for the kids, only. Also the cards look like they were made in-house, not with Topps.
DeleteDang. I need me some more Chicago based friends!
ReplyDeleteMy friend has been very generous to me over the years.
DeleteThe Reds have done things with Topps in the past. Two years they did a small set of current players, maybe nine or ten cards, that was given away at Redsfest. They have also done a season ticket thing, not sure if it was 2010 or 2011, and I think it featured the actual card images of several players past and present. I'm not sure what is on their season tickets this year.

Looks like the Reds did the tickets in 2010.
ReplyDeleteI love the look of the tickets this year.
