Five Random Cubs Cards

I've got 15,001 Cubs cards (the State Police set pushed me over the 15,000 mark!) from 122 different brands listed on a spreadsheet. A random number generator picked five cards, one each from the past several decades.

1900s - 1970s:1962 Topps #552 Billy Williams   The RNG starts me off on a very good note today, with a card of my favorite.  The 1961 NL Rookie of the Year gets a nice big trophy from Topps.

1980s: 1984 Donruss #483 Keith Moreland  Never noticed this before, but the yellow for the team name really gets washed out against a light background.  You can barely make out the word "Cubs" on the card.

1990s: 1994 Topps #399 Frank Castillo  This is Castillo's brush with greatness.  His card in #399, so close to a superstar (Ken Griffey, Jr.) and a hundred number card.

2000s: 2003 Fleer Fall Classic #16 Billy Williams  This is the second week in a row that the RNG has snagged the same player twice.  Last week we got two Shawon Dunston cards.  It has happened several times, but I don't think I've ever gotten the same player three times.  The set for this card is called "Fall Classic" but sadly, Billy never played in one.

2010s: 2016 Allen & Ginter #68 Dexter Fowler  This has to be one of only a few cards that doesn't show Dexter with a big grin.

  1. Wasn't it just 2 or 3 weeks ago that I asked if this (same player selected twice) ever happened? :D
