The 30th Cub player of 2022 made his debut in the blowout win against the Pirates on Saturday. Righty Sean Newcomb was picked up earlier in the week from the Braves and Jesse Chavez went south to Atlanta.
Newcomb's first Cubs appearance came in about as good a time as it can. He pitched the 8th inning with the Cubs leading 21-0. Talk about a low pressure situation. He delivered a 1-2-3 inning.
He is wearing #15 which always brings back memories for me of Darwin Barney. And no, I won't become a Sean Newcomb super-collector.
The 30 Cubs fit nicely into a 6 x 5 mosaic.
