The Factory Team Sets Are Back!

I didn't see any advance notice about this, but the Topps Factory Team sets are back.  The set's release was not mentioned on any of the upcoming release calendars that I follow. Why does Topps do that?  Wouldn't you think they'd like to let collectors know when something is coming out?  Seems to me it would be even more important with a product that was cancelled last year.

A tweet from OAC cards on Saturday had the back of the Cubs blister pack.  The sets will have 17 players as they have for the past several years. The price of the pack has gone up by a couple dollars, however.

The factory set has always been a preview of series two.  There were just five Cubs in series one, and all five are also in the factory set.  That means twelve sneak-peeks at series two.  That's the good news.  The bad news is that five of the twelve (Duffy, Thompson, Alcantara, Davies, and Deichmann) are no longer with the Cubs.

I ordered a set on Saturday as soon as I saw the tweet.  I hope to have the cards within a week.

  1. I read that Deichmann re-signed with the cubs and is in triple A after not being claimed on waivers.

  2. Yes, he cleared waivers and is with Iowa, but not on the 40 man roster.

  3. 5 of the 12 Series 2 Cubs already gone from the team is no bueno. Could have done a better job.
