1981 O-Pee-Chee Cubs

 Set Size: O-Pee-Chee - 374, Topps 726

Cubs in set: O-Pee-Chee - 10, Topps 27

The OPC set is a little less than half of the Topps set.  The checklist includes players from the entire Topps set.

Topps didn't put their logo inside the baseball, and OPC followed suit.

The logos did show up on the backs of the cards.

The 1980 Cubs were not a very good team, so O-Pee-Chee did not include very many of them in their set.

  1. That was a baaaddd! team. The Cubs gave away Bruce Sutter to the Cardinals for Leon Durham and not much else. Ivan DeJesus was worth his weight in the Ryne Sandberg trade, though. Dave King Kong Kingman was soon to be traded back to the Mets for Steve Henderson in another bad trade. Rueschel was released in 1981 and again in 1984 and went on to win 19, 17 14 and 13 games for other teams, making the all-star game in 1989. He gave up a homer to Bo Jackson in that game. Krukow was traded and won 19 games in a later season for the Giants. The Cubs talent evaluators was Bozo the Clown, it seems.

    1. Add Bill Caudill to the list. He went on to save 105 games with other teams.
