Comparing the Main Brands - 1982

We're in year two of the card wars.  Donruss and Fleer had an entire season to get their sets ready while Topps had to think about upping their game due to some real competition.

Year - 1982

Main Brands -  Topps, Donruss, Fleer

Number of Players Included Among All the Sets: 33

  1. Interesting to see guys such as Mike Lum, Ken Reitz, and Dick Tidrow whom I think of as 1970s guys and mostly remember with other teams.

Comparing the similar photos on the Topps and Fleer Jerry Morales is a great way to see how bad cropping in that Fleer set makes a big difference. And, wow, that Mike Krukow is really out of focus!

  2. This is the year I could never say who had the best set. None are particularly good.

This is probably the worst year in the 1981-1991 Battle between the 3 companies (I know Score and Upper Deck came along later).

Donruss photo's have too much shadow.

The 2 best cards seem to be Fleer Bonds and Buckner.

  3. I watched the show you promoted, Calvin Marshall. It was good. I had never heard of it before.
