Five Random Cubs Cards

I've got 21,073 Cubs cards from 316 different brands listed on a spreadsheet. A random number generator picked five cards, one each from the past several decades.

1900s - 1970s: 1976 Towne Club Jose Cardenal  I usually don't show the backs of the cards, but since so many of the MSA discs from 1976 had identical fronts, I'll show the back too.

1980s: 1983 Donruss #540 Bill Campbell  I wonder what he was looking at and why he wasn't looking at the camera?

1990s: 1998 Stadium Club #374 Rod Beck This subset comes from the even set of 1998 Stadium Club.  The set was released in two 200-card chunks, the first being the odd numbers 1-399 and the second was the even set, #2-400.  Transactions was the even numbers from 365-400.

2000s: 2002 Leaf #61 Kerry Wood Wood is rubbing down a ball.  Do pitchers even have time to do that now with the pitch clock?

2010s: 2010 Pro Debut #189 Rebel Ridling What a great name!  But Rebel never rose above AA and was out of pro ball after the 2012 season.

  1. I haven't seen that Stadium Club subset before. It's very weird to see any Stadium Club card that's so focused on design elements rather than making the photo center stage.

    As for Mr. Ridling, clearly Cub scouts should have listened to the Crystals. "He's a Rebel and he'll never be any good." B^}
