Topps 1969 - 2009 Complete Set Prices

Here is my monthly look at Topps complete set prices. I only go back to 1969 because that is the first year of my complete sets. To find the prices, I used the first five complete sale listings from ebay and then averaged them. I got these prices on April 1 (and these are the real prices, no April Fools joking here!).

In the last column I've got the average prices for the 10 months since I started keeping track.

If you want to buy one of each set, the April average cost is $5,296.70. The ten month average of all the sets is $5,686.75. Shipping, of course, is extra!

  1. interesting, but bear in mind your averages are for the prices that 41 different people would pay to get the 41 sets. I don't have the math chops, but a mathematician could problem do some equations and figure out that if ONE PERSON tried to win all 41 of the next 41 auctions for these 41 sets, they would probably pay 10 to 25 percent more.

  2. I am suprised the 1971 set 10 month average is that high. I thought it even goes less than 1972 set. The big drop off from 1972 to 1973 has always been consistent

  3. The '71 price is high because of the black borders on the cards, which make it harder to find cards in decent shape. Sets in ex-mint/mint condition will bring a premium price.
