These Are My Gladdest of Possible Words

With apologies to Franklin Pierce Adams,

These are my gladdest of possible words.

Tinker to

Evers to

Chance.

My T206 quest is finished as I've got a T206 Frank Chance card. The card was a PSA 2
and you can see the crease, but its got bright colors and I'm glad to have it. Sharp readers noticed that I said it was a PSA 2. When the card arrived, the first thing I did was....

....free it from it's plastic prison and put it in a....

...minimum security facility. Then it was up to my display shelf, along side the other members of the trio of bear cubs fleeter than birds....

Tinker to Evers to Chance.

I'll finish today with the famous poem that inspired me. The most familiar title of the poem is "Baseball's Sad Lexicon," though the first time it was published it was called "That Double Play Again. The piece was written by New York sportswriter Franklin Pierce Adams in 1910.

These are the saddest of possible words:
"Tinker to Evers to Chance."
Trio of bear cubs, and fleeter than birds,
Tinker and Evers and Chance.
Ruthlessly pricking our gonfalon bubble,
Making a Giant hit into a double –
Words that are heavy with nothing but trouble:
"Tinker to Evers to Chance."
