Goodies From Chad

Chad has been a loyal reader of the blog for several years.  He's also been a generous reader, sending cards my way just because he's a good guy.

Just before Christmas he spread a little holiday joy my way with an eclectic collection of Cubbies.

This unlicensed set is called the 1989 Windy City Superstars.

Squirt joined up with Topps to make these in 1981.  The front is a design unique to Squirt but the back of the card was the same as the base 1981 Topps cards

More retail cards, this time from True Value Hardware in 1986.  These have a player licence but not one from MLB.  Sutcliffe does not look very happy.

This is the cream of the crop, a 1943 M.P. & Co. card of The Mad Russian Lou Novikoff.  The brand is one of the few issued during World War II.  And legend has it that Novikoff was afraid of the Wrigley Field ivy because he feared it was poison ivy.  Very cool card!

Thanks again, Chad, for your extreme generosity!!

  1. I've never heard of Lou Novikoff. That's a pretty cool vintage card!
