Six Cubs were included in the 1977 Hostess set. Five of the six were in the 1976 set too. The only change was that Bill Buckner replaced Rick Monday. They had been traded for one another in January of 1977. The Buckner card is one of his first as a Cub, though it is an airbrushed card.
Madlock was traded to the Giants in February of 1977, so the deadline for the checklist must have been late January.
