Five Random Cubs Cards

I've got 20,679 Cubs cards from 304 different brands listed on a spreadsheet. A random number generator picked five cards, one each from the past several decades.

1900s - 1970s: 1967 Topps #171 Cal Koonce  I believe that this picture was taken at Candlestick Park.  That might explain the reason for him to  be wearing a jacket under his jersey.

1980s: 1988 Topps #336 Ed Lynch  This is one guy I never liked.  I didn't like him when with the Mets in 1984, he threw at Keith Moreland and that lead to a brawl.  I didn't like it when he came to the Cubs a few years after that.  I didn't like him as the Cubs' GM in the late 90's

1990s: 1994 Stadium Club #344 Karl Rhodes Some day I'll have to look at all of my cards of him and see how many show him as Karl compared to those with Tuffy.  He is always Tuffy in my mind.

2000s: 2001 Upper Deck #177 Jon Lieber Lieber had the year of his life in 2001, going 20-6

2010s: 2018 Topps 1983 Topps Baseball #99 Addison Russell Here is a guy with what seemed like a ton of up side.  We didn't learn about his dark side until it was too late and now he has disappeared.

  1. I wished i had my cards more organized on spreadsheets so i wouldn't have so many dupes. As i have gotten older, eyeballing new ones isnt what it used to be

  2. Ed Lynch was one of the few ex-players who took part in the Keith Hernandez number retirement ceremony yesterday. I expected more.
