...without flying to Los Angeles.
Instead, we rode out bikes to South Bend and saw the South Bend Cubs.
It was a beautiful day for a bike ride. We had a quick lunch after church and then drove to Niles, Michigan. From there is was a nine mile bike ride to Four Winds Field. The route was our usual Niles, Michigan to South Bend pizza ride, plus an extra mile to the ballpark.
We had great seats, the third row behind the visitor's dugout. The results were great too, because the Cubs beat the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 6-2. The Cubs leadoff man, Pete Crow-Armstrong (the main piece in last year's Javier Baez trade with the Mets) got the Cubs on the scoreboard early by hitting a home run on the first pitch. Two batters later, another Cub homerun extended the lead to 2-0 and they never looked back.
Cubs pitching was outstanding, limiting Wisconsin to just one hit (a two-run homer) while striking out 14. And the game moved along quickly, finishing in 2:19 (I love the pitch clock!). Crow-Armstrong ended up 3-3 with a walk.
But not only did the Cubs do well, but so did Mrs. WW and I! In the second inning, everyone in our section won a free lotto ticket.
Best Seats in the House, presented by @BarLouie, make for a great #SundayFunday! Paul and Janene had their seats upgraded to behind home plate as well as Bar Louie gift cards and hats! 🥂👏 #sbcubs pic.twitter.com/1looHesGun

An inning later we were approached by a Cubs staff member and told we won a free seat upgrade. We got to move to the section directly behind home plate for the rest of the game and we also won some swag from Bar Louie.
A Cubs win, free lottery tickets, a seat upgrade, swag... could it get any better?
Yes. because I also bought the 2022 South Bend Cubs team set. I'll get to those in a few days, as I have other posts lined up for the rest of the week.
Congratulations! Sounds like a great day.
