Topps, You've Done It To Me Again

So, this is about Topps being...Topps.

The Cubs win the World Series.  Topps puts out a special 25 card Cubs World Series set.  I order the set.  It is shipped within 48 hours.  So far, so good.

I follow the tracking.  The package arrived yesterday.  I get home from school around 4:15 p.m.   The package is on my porch.

I open the box.

I read over the packing slip.  All is well.

I dig deeper in the box for the cards.

I pull this out.

A 2016 Topps Chrome blaster.  You can't make this stuff up.

I stare in disbelief at the wrong box for a few minutes and then search out the phone number to Topps customer service.  I find the number.  I also find that their customer service is only open from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. EST.  They're already closed for the day.

I waited 55 years for a championship.

I'll have to wait a few more days for the championship cards.

I'm afraid I'll have to wait longer for Topps to get their act together.

  1. Ugh. I'm sure they will make it right though. For the last couple months I've actually seen a lot of positive Topps customer service stories.

  2. If you need one, let me know. I can grab one from any store (yeah - there are JUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUST a few laying around here) and mail it out.

  3. That stinks. The least they can do is let you open up the blaster while you wait for your Cubs cards.

  4. It will be interesting to see how they deal with it. I would imagine they'll comp you the Chrome blaster and send out a replacement for the missing Cubs set. If the phone calling doesn't work, I think I still have a link to their help desk website. I can forward it if you need. They haven't taken too long to respond to my messages there.

  6. Wow. That's funny! I actually laughed out loud when I saw what was in the box. I'm sure they'll eventually make it right. Keep us posted on how they handle it!
