Five Random Cubs Cards

I've got 17,980 Cubs cards from 218 different brands listed on a spreadsheet. A random number generator picked five cards, one each from the past several decades.

1900s - 1970s: 1960 Leaf #110 Earl Averill  Leaf's first set since 1949 and they decided that black and white would help them dethrone Topps.  Nope.

1980s: 1988 Donruss Baseball's Best #205 Frank DiPino I always do a double-take when the Cubs logo on the card and the uniform are close to each other.  From a distance it looks like a weird double-printing error.

1990s: 1997 Score #456 Steve Trachsel  I never took notice to how minimalist is the 1997 Score design.

2000s: 2001 Fleer #34 Ricky Gutierrez  That is a lot of dirt for one card!

2010s: 2017 Topps 1987 #49 Jake Arrieta  It looks like Jake is throwing a giant Cubs logo!

  1. The 1960 Leaf has been making the blogs quite a bit of late, and I've got one coming in the next day or two as well.

  2. 2001 Fleer Tradition is one of my favorite sets from the aughts.
