I've got 21,167 Cubs cards from 316 different brands listed on a spreadsheet. A random number generator picked five cards, one each from the past several decades.
1900s - 1970s: 1975 Topps #434 Bob Locker After sitting out the 1974 season due to an elbow injury, the Cubs picked up Locker from the A's in the trade that sent Billy Williams west. Locker pitched in just 22 games for the Cubs and was released on June 25, ending his 10-year career.
1980s: 1985 Leaf #238 Leon Durham I sure hope that this picture wasn't taken during game 5 of the 1984 NLCS in San Diego, when an easy grounder went right between Durham's leg.
1990s: 1995 Fleer Ultra #136 Kevin Foster The Cubs retired #31 honoring Fergie Jenkins and Greg Maddux. Foster had the number for five seasons with the Cubs and posted a record of 32-28. Not horrible, but not Jenkins or Maddux either.2000s: 2008 Topps Traded #139 Jon Lieber He won 20 games for the Cubs in 2001 and after a few years with three other teams, the Cubs brought Lieber back for the 2008 season. The was that there was still a little something left in the tank. But the tank was empty as he went 2-3 over 26 games, mostly out of the bullpen.
Although it's not an especially beautiful card, I always liked Locker's 1975 card.
