On the Katy Trail - Machens

And were are finished!  Yesterday was just a 13 mile ride from St. Charles to Machens and then 13 more back to St. Charles.  We had our car transported from the starting point, Clinton to St. Charles, so it was waiting for us there.  We hopped in the car and then had a 6½ hour ride home.

Machens was just a stop along the railroad, a place where the Katy line had a junction with another line that went into St. Louis.  There were no major leaguers from the area.

So here are the totals from the trip:
  • 8 days of riding over 9 days
  • 277.75 total miles rode, including side trips along the way
  • Average of  34.72 miles per day
  • Average speed of 12.2 mph
  • Wildlife seen: deer, turtles, and two snakes
  • Trees climbed over: 2
  • Flat tires: 1
  • Birthplace of 21 different major leaguers
  • Just one Cub among the 21
