I've got 21,170 Cubs cards from 316 different brands listed on a spreadsheet. A random number generator picked five cards, one each from the past several decades.
1900s - 1970s: 1970 Topps #375 Johnny Callison One of a long line of players that the Cubs got in a trade a couple years past their prime.
1980s: 1987 Topps #750 Steve Trout And speaking of past their prime, the Cubs traded Steve Trout to the Yankees in July of 1987. Trout was done, winning just eight games over the next 2½ seasons with the Yankees and Mariners.
1990s: 1993 Select #31 Greg Maddux I wonder if Select did this on purpose, giving Maddux card #31 to match the number that he wore. Of course, in 1993 he wore it with the Braves, not the Cubs.2000s: 2004 Finest #110 Mark Prior This is a dirty trick, putting a numbered jersey card in the base set. And in 2004, it would have been a really tough card. I put my sets together years after Prior's career imploded, so getting the card wasn't much of a problem.
