1950 Bowman - The Real Deals!

I've got the last of my real-deal Bowman sets today, the cards from 1950.  I had to wait for one card to arrive.  The ebay seller printed the label the same day as the sale, but didn't get the package to the post office for five days.  It finally arrived and now I've got all fifteen of the Cubs.

The 1950 cards have the same size as the '49 version, 2 1/16" x 2½".   The pictures on the cards are very different and much improved.  The '49s had a photograph that was cropped against a colored background.  The 1950 cards have paintings of a photograph in vivid color.  Like some of the other sets, the color on these still pop after 70 years.

The design is still very plain, with just the picture on the front.  If you want to know who you got you have to turn the card over.

As with my other real deals, condition of the card wasn't of great importance.  I don't mind rounded corners as long as the picture looks good.

  1. Again, fantastic cards. Congrats on another complete team set. I still need 7 Braves (includes the variations with the copy right-no copy right).

  2. I really like the ones with the ivy in the background. The neighborhood buildings are also a nice touch.

  3. I was wondering when you'd succumb and go after the real things. I have the reprint T206 set but I don't think I'll succumb to the lure of that chase! (oh, you may want to tweak the titles of these pages...)

    1. I’ve got just three real T206 Cubs, Tinker, Evers, and Chance, and I’m good with that.

  4. Nice pickups! FYI, hate to nitpick, but this post and the one from 2/6 says "Read Deals". Just in case a need to search for the phrase "real deals" doesn't get these two.... :)
