2018 Gold Label Cubs

The 2018 version of Gold Label came out a couple of weeks ago.  As in the past, the checklist has 100 players, but three classes of each, for a total of 300 cards.  I just opt for the Class 1 cards.

There are seven Cubs among the 100 players.  Two of those are Hall of Famers, five are on the current roster.  I should be thrilled to have seven on the checklist.

Fans of several teams aren't as thrilled.  The Tigers, Rays, Rangers, Brewers, Pirates, and Blue Jays have just one player each.  Two cards were all that were given to the Diamondbacks, White Sox, Royals, A's, and Padres.  Total those up and eleven teams were given 16 slots.  Would it shock you that eleven cards, which is 11% of the set,  are given to the Yankees?

The cards themselves are pretty nice looking.  There's lots of Cubs home pinstripes shown, which is always a good thing for me.

  1. Wow, it must be rough being a collector of a small market team.
