Varied Colors - 1959

The 1959 set was filled with color, as the Topps design had the player's picture cropped inside a circle with a bright colored matte.  The matte on the Cubs cards included seven different colors.  The font for the players name changed colors too, depending on the color of the matte, as did the team name and position.

The color winner for the set was a green matte.  What a awful choice for the blue and red Cubs.


None of these colors make nice looking Cubs cards.  There isn't a blue or a red matte.
