A week ago today I had a plan in my head. The Cubs magic number was five. They had seven games to play, four against the Pirates and three with the Cardinals. I figured the Cubs could win two from the Bucs and two more from the Redbirds. If that happened, the only way they could lose the division was if the Brewers won all of their remaining games. No chance at that, right?
Wrong.
So its winner take all today for the NL Central title and home field for the first two rounds. The Brewers can't keep winning every day can they? Today would be a nice day to end their streak.
Now on to some baseball cards.
Last week pitcher Allen Webster and shortstop Mike Freeman took the field, making them the 49th and 50th Cubs to do so.
Wow, Allen Webster is still around? He was one of the guys the Red Sox got from the Dodgers in the big Adrian Gonzalez/Josh Beckett/Carl Crawford trade 6 years ago...
