Baez, Wow!

I'm assuming you all saw the latest in the long line of El Mago plays.  A combination of his magic and the Pirates' stupidity made for a pretty amazing sequence.

I have to assume that Topps will put out a Topps Now card of the play.  I may have to get one.  That will give me the quintessential "Cards That Accurately Portray the Player" card for Javier Baez.

  2. I posted a breakdown of the play on Quora. https://www.quora.com/Can-a-base-runner-on-3rd-base-score-from-3rd-base-if-a-batter-hits-the-ball-and-runs-backwards-from-1st-base-within-the-baseline-until-the-baserunner-scores-If-so-how-or-why-and-what-is-the-backstory-to-the-rule/answer/Brett-Pasternack

Absolutely crazy stuff. I mean, a Little League first baseman should have had a better understanding of what to do than Craig did. But credit to Báez for taking advantage of Craig's mistake so deftly.
