Five Random Cubs Cards
I've got 16,768 Cubs cards from 198 different brands listed on a spreadsheet. A random number generator picked five cards, one each from the past several decades.
1900s - 1970s: 1971 Fleer World Series #30 1932 World Series This didn't turn out well, as the Yankees swept the Cubs. Game 3 was the "Called Shot" game.
1980s: 1982 Fleer #589 Bill Buckner Billy Buck, powder-blues with pinstripes - what a great card!
1990s: 1997 Select #14 Sammy Sosa This design is pretty boring. The gray on the side and the non color picture make for a very blah-looking card.
2000s: 2008 Heritage #491 Alfonso Soriano This is a nice looking Heritage card. The pose and angle are very reminiscent of the '59 cards.
2010s: 2011 Pro Debut #216 Elliot Soto Looks like Soto might be a career minor league guy. He was drafted by the Cubs in 2010 and was inching his way through the organization. He was in AA in 2015 and then traded at the trade deadline to the Marlins for Dan Haren. He spent 2016 in AAA for the Marlins, 2017 back with the Cubs in Iowa, and 2018 and 2019 with the Rockies' AAA team.
