Wrigley Wax Actually Busts Some Wax!

You won't see too many pack rips here....I just don't buy that much wax (or foil, I suppose).  But each year, when Topps Series One is released, I just have to grab a few packs.

The first pack does not get ripped.  It stays all minty fresh and goes right up on my display shelf with the other packs I've got.

This makes for 45 years worth of packs, starting with a pack from the first year I collected, 1969, and continuing through 2013.  I've got 15 packs per shelf, and if I squeeze them a little closer together, I can add one more pack to each.  That means I'll have to add shelf number four in 2017.

So how did I do with the two packs I opened?  Great, if you're a Blue Jay or Dodger fan.  For a Cub fan, though, not so hot....only one Cub in the 24 cards.

Here's what I got.....

Pack one

 Pack Two

And my one and only Cub,

Anthony Rizzo, Chasing the Dream.

These will have to tide me over until my package from BrentandBecca arrives.  He is busting a whopping 80 cases of cards.  It might take a little while for him to sort though all of those.

  1. It's not too bad though, It's a cool insert of a young talented star.

  2. Wow, I didn't realize all those packs were unopened the last time you showed them off. That's willpower!

And Rizzo might be the new Castro as far as Topps/Cubs posterboys. Base, SP, Chasing the Dream insert, 1972 Mini insert, 2 autos and 2 relic cards? Whew!

    1. Accuracy Department: the '69-'79s are a;; repacks...I bought the wrappers, put the appropriate number of cards in the from the appropriate year, and then borrowed Mrs. WW's iron and resealed them. That means no gum in them, either. From '80 on, they are the real deal, gum and all...until Topps stopped including gum.

    2. I removed the post it was embarrassingly full of typing errors.
I think the display is a brilliant idea.

  4. Those Yankee cards look pretty sweet.

Love the idea you have for the unopened packs. I bet the gum in there is uneatable though.

  5. I've been thinking about doing shelves like that in my man room for my autos and relics. Are those custom made or did you purchase them somewhere?
